Churchill, about his life as a surgeon in the military and at Massachusetts General Hospital and as a professor at Harvard Medical School; his father, Dr. Jonathan Mason Warren's memoirs of trips to England, 1832, and Europe, 1834; manuscript copy of a biography of his grandfather, Dr. John Collins Warren (1778-1856); manuscript copies of lectures on anatomy and surgery delivered at Harvard Medical School; printed medical and historical pamphlets written by Dr. Warren and others; correspondence with colleagues at various medical institutions and hospitals across the country, and correspondence with institutions for the donation of his books, letters, and journals. Correspondents include Thomas Goddard Frothingham, Grenville W. Norcross, George C. Shattuck, Charles A. Coolidge, Charles Knowles Bolton, George Wigglesworth, Worthington Chauncey Ford, and his son John Warren.

John Collins Warren, surgeon and naturalist, was born in Boston in 1778, the son of Harvard physician John Warren and Abigail (Collins) Warren.
